Welcome to the Applecraft rare prices Wiki![]

To get to the rares list, click the "Rares List" tab above. You can also simply hover over the tab to select a few quick access links. To return to this page, click the "Main Page" tab above.

Goals[]

There are several goals this wiki is striving to achieve, which are listed below.

  • Become a handy tool for collectors. As it stands, it's hard for collectors to know what rares they are missing from a crate that has already cycled out of circulation.
  • Rare authentication. As time goes on, rares pass through multiple hands and are altered to the liking of each owner, whether they're dyed, enchanted, or have a name change. For collectors who want to see an unaltered version, this is the place to go.
  • Curiosities sake. Newer players jump onto the server with no prior knowledge of what rares have been introduced to the server or what abilities.
  • Ensure rares aren't forgotten. As time passes, older players leave and new players take their place, and old unlabeled rares fade into obscurity.

What is a Rare?[]

A rare is any item or block that has been altered in a way that a normal player on the Applecraft server would not be able to reproduce. Almost all rares have one or more of the following traits, with some exceptions.

  • Colored Text.
  • Lore text.
  • Enchantments on un-enchantable items/blocks.
  • Item or block that is typically unobtainable to players.
  • An item with a custom texture from the server resource pack.

An example of a rare is shown below.

Christmas Milk Item
Christmas Milk Text

The christmas milk qualifies as a rare because it is named with colored text, has lore text, and is an enchanted item that typically cannot be enchanted.

Exceptions[]

Items on the server can possess one or more of the listed traits above, but would not classify as a rare if their creation was the result of one of the following traits.

  • Items renamed using a rename tag, known as custom items. This also includes rares that were renamed with a rename tag, also called fake rares.
  • Custom items made by staff that are not normally available to the public, such as mod tools or gifts from one staff to another.
  • Custom items made specifically for town decor or town events.
  • An item enchanted through the use of Library Crate books.

An example of an item that has traits of a rare but does not qualify is shown below.

5 Advent2016 Item
StickofDeath Modtool Text-0

This item features the same traits as the christmas milk. It is named with colored text, has lore text, and is an enchanted item that typically cannot be enchanted. However, this item is something that is not available to the public, therefore cannot be called a 'rare'.

Fake Rares[]

Items renamed with item rename tags are fairly easy to spot. Most rares have at least one non-vanilla enchantment that normal players would be unable to replicate, so finding an item that is renamed but has no lore text and only vanilla enchantments is pretty telling of a custom named item. However, when a player uses a rename tag to have an already existing rare renamed, it makes it much harder to spot for authenticity. Renaming rares is not illegal on the server, but makes collecting challenging especially for those who were not around when those original rares were first introduced. Here are some examples of rares that all came from a single player's shop compared to their original versions. None of these items were listed as altered rares and were typically being sold for 64 diamond blocks so collectors beware.

  • What helps give this one away is the september 2017 lore text. Through experience, I know there was no rare of that name given out that month, and I know there was a diamond helmet rare given out, so I compared the two and proved the fake is an altered Mithril helmet. The other telling feature is the special characters in the name. 2017 rares had more basic text names. Rares from the first half of 2017 usually had just basic colored text. In the second half, names started becoming more customized, featuring more bold names and glitch text as can be seen on the Mithril helmet. Special characters like the stars and skull didn't become prominent in rare production until early to mid 2018.

  • Similar to the previous fake, the telling feature on this one is the special characters in the name. 2016 didn't have a lot of name customization in rare manufacturing. Rares from early 2016 were typically just unnamed unbreakable tools and armor, spawn eggs, or unnamed items with a singular non-vanilla enchantment. Later 2016 rares started introducing colored text, but there were absolutely no special characters.
